Remarkably, since 1991, the Jewish community in Germany has been the fastest-growing Jewish community in Jewish history (in terms of percentage), and since 1994, the number of Jewish believers in Yeshua (Jesus) has been growing more quickly than anywhere else in the world. All this is due to the massive Jewish immigration from the former Soviet Union.
The Jewish population in Germany has grown from the maximum of 30,000 people in 1991 to approximately 300,000 people in 2008. At the same time, the number of identified Jewish believers in Yeshua grew from a maximum of 100 in 1994 to at least 5,000 in 2008. Whereas no Messianic congregations existed in 1994, there are more than 40 Messianic congregations and groups in Germany today, established over the course of just a few years.
This is evidence of a clear and powerful revival taking place among the Russian Jews of Germany, a revival impossible to systematize and which seems to be growing "all by itself.” But the situation has changed, and this previous wave of revival has probably been over for a couple of years already. Expectation is growing among messianic leaders in Germany, however, that a new revival among Jewish people is approaching. We hope that by using the possibilities inherent within the challenges that face us and by wisely dealing with the obstacles, we will be made ready for the new revival. And we pray that this will be the case.
As a side note, the resources we have in Germany are not enough to meet the challenges of Russian Jewish outreach in the current stage. We now ask now and rely on the help of experienced theologians, messianic leaders, missionaries, messianic congregations, churches and missions organizations from other countries. So, please join us in our outreach, making history here and now in Germany - in this historic place, at this historic time.
